Windsor School English Department celebrates “Book Day” with literary and creative activities.

With a lot of creativity the English Department at Windsor School celebrated “Book Day” with special moments , so as to motivate students to enjoy reading English literature.

Year 6 students decorated their rooms with themes inspired by books and classic and contemporary characters from English literature. At the same time, students from year 5 wore costumes of their favourite characters or books, and presented them to their classmates. Our halls and classrooms were full of colourful posters with quotes taken from books, which were on display during the week.

One of the special moments of “Book Day” was when some of the teachers of the department, who dressed up as characters from books, visited some of the classes to tell them who  the characters behind the books were. This was an interesting activity, and the students were happy to welcome the teachers into their classrooms. 

“The main objective of these activities is to bring closer to our students books from English-speaking authors, and their marvellous worlds and characters ” Ms Cindy Cifuentes, Head of the English department pointed out.

With this initiative the English department reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive development of our Windsor School students , promoting educational moments which mix learning, fun and creativity.

Con una gran dosis de creatividad, el Departamento de Inglés del Windsor School celebró el Día del Libro con una jornada especial dedicada a fomentar el amor por la lectura y la literatura en inglés. 

Los 6tos básicos decoraron sus salas con temáticas inspiradas en libros y personajes clásicos y contemporáneos de la literatura anglosajona, mientras los estudiantes de 5to básico, caracterizados con trajes y elementos distintivos, presentaron a sus compañeros sus personajes favoritos y libros. Los pasillos y aulas del colegio se llenaron de coloridos posters con citas inspiradoras tomadas de obras en inglés, que estuvieron exhibidos durante toda la semana.

Uno de los momentos más esperados de la jornada fue el recorrido de los profesores del Departamento de Inglés, quienes, disfrazados de personajes emblemáticos de la literatura en inglés, visitaron las salas para contar quiénes eran y qué historia representaban. Esta actividad generó gran entusiasmo entre los estudiantes, quienes intentaban adivinar el personaje y su obra.

“El objetivo principal es acercar los libros de autores de habla inglesa,  y sus maravillosos mundos y personajes a nuestros estudiantes ”, señaló Miss Cindy, jefa del Departamento de Inglés.

Con esta iniciativa, el Departamento de Inglés reafirma su compromiso con el desarrollo integral de los estudiantes del Windsor School, promoviendo instancias educativas que combinan aprendizaje, creatividad y diversión.
